Home / New Patients

Welcome. Here's what to expect.

Your first visit lasts about 75 minutes. We use that time to get to know you, take a careful look at everything, and answer all your questions — without rushing.

Your First Visit

No surprises. No upselling.

A typical new-patient visit covers four things, in this order.

1

Hello & history

15 minutes of conversation. We want to know your medical history, what you like and don't like at the dentist, and what you'd want different.

2

Comprehensive exam

Digital X-rays, oral cancer screening, gum measurements, bite analysis, and a full visual exam by your dentist.

3

Cleaning

A gentle cleaning by your hygienist. If we find something that needs more time, we'll schedule it for a follow-up rather than rushing.

4

The plan

You'll leave with a written treatment plan, an itemized cost estimate, and answers to every question. No pressure to schedule anything that day.

Insurance & Payment

We make the money side simple.

We're in-network with most major PPO plans, and out-of-network coverage often pays similarly. We file every claim for you.

In-Network Plans

  • Delta Dental PPO
  • Cigna PPO
  • Aetna PPO
  • MetLife PPO
  • Guardian PPO
  • United Healthcare PPO
  • BlueCross BlueShield PPO

Don't see your plan? Call us — we may still be in-network or able to file out-of-network on your behalf.

Payment Options

  • All major credit and debit cards
  • HSA / FSA cards welcome
  • Cash and check
  • 0% interest financing through CareCredit (12 / 24 month plans)
  • In-house membership plan for uninsured patients ($349/year, 2 cleanings & 20% off treatment)

No insurance? No problem. About 30% of our patients pay out of pocket — our membership plan was built for them.

FAQs

Common questions, answered.

How soon can I get an appointment?
New-patient appointments are usually available within 5–7 business days. Emergency same-day slots are held every day for existing and new patients.
I have severe dental anxiety. Can you help?
Yes — this is one of the things we're most experienced with. We offer nitrous oxide, oral sedation, and most importantly, time. Tell us when you book and we'll plan accordingly.
What's the cost of a new-patient visit?
For uninsured patients, our new-patient special is $149 (regularly $325) for a comprehensive exam, X-rays, and cleaning. With insurance, this is typically covered at 100% as preventive care.
Do you see kids? At what age?
Yes — we recommend a first visit by age 1, or within 6 months of the first tooth coming in. Dr. Whitman specializes in pediatric care.
What if I haven't been to a dentist in years?
You're not the first, and you won't be judged. Many of our happiest long-term patients started after a 5+ year gap. We'll take it one step at a time.

Ready when you are.
